SIX OF PENTACLES POWERWORDS
Gifts
QUICK MEANING
The Six of Pentacles is a card indicating that there is an opportunity to enjoy your material success and also to give back. This may be monitory or with your time and energy.
TRADITIONAL MEANING
Traditionally this card means receiving presents and gifts and enjoying abundance.
CARD DESCRIPTION
A wealthy man stands in luxurious clothing and holds in one hand money, in the other a weighing scales. He gives with a gesture of blessing, money to a beggar. We can assume he will then give money to the other beggar. The wealthy man has a serene face and we can see his home in the background. In the world of Tarot there is a lot of debate about this card. Is it about receiving and giving, about being wealthy or poor? I think surrounding cards could help you answer those questions. However, the Qabalistic meaning of the card is ‘Lord of Material Success’ so I feel this card is centered around the wealthy abundant man and his ability to give because he can.
SYMBOLS
Wealthy Man
Here we have a wealthy man that came from a castle in the background. He has plenty of money to spare. He will NOT give away so much money that it will put him out of balance. He knows how to stay abundant. He gives with love and without expectation.
Two Beggars
Two beggars reach for the wealthy mans money. They need it. I wonder how they became so poor?
Six Pentacles
The six pentacles in the sky represents abundance, wealth and money.
Money being given to the Beggars
Call it donation, charity, help or whatever you want. It will make the beggars life a little bit easier for a short while.
Hand giving Money – Sign of Benediction
The wealthy mans hand gesture is like that of the Hierophant – the sign of blessing. Not only is he giving money but also from a place of spiritual love. Waite who designed the deck, stated about the wealthy man, “It is a testimony to his own success in life, as well as to his goodness of heart.”
Weighing Scales
A sign of balance and harmony. It can also remind us of the Justice card. The balance of giving and receiving. To learn how to give without depleting our own resources whether that is money or energy. It can also remind us of Judgement and the good karma that comes with giving.
The Castle
The castle can represent home, emotional security and positive goals. This wealthy man leaves his home and goes out into the world to give.
ARE YOU POOR OR WEALTHY?
This is a really important question. As women we have been told to give to others before ourselves. But this is not giving from a place of abundance. I encourage women to call abundance into their lives, and then give back while making sure they stay in balance.
When I have conversations about money with women I often hear the following statements…
I do not want to be greedy
I have enough
More money does not mean happiness
Money is not important to me
My life is great – why would I need more?
My response to these statements with the Six of Pentacles backing me up would be…
I do not want to be greedy – Feeling greedy is a guilt feeling that we do not need to buy into. You can always give away your excess money if you do not want it.
I have enough – That is so great but what about the people that do not have enough?
More money does not mean happiness – Of course not. Money can make our lives easier but it does not guarantee happiness. But money can bring independence and empowerment.
Money is not important to me – So if you do not want extra money in your life, are their other ways you can help those around you?
My life is great – why would I need more? – Your life is great – but what if you could help to make other peoples lives great also?
But just imagine for a moment…If you had MORE money…
think of all the GOOD you could do in the world!
Think of all the changes you could create, all the empowerment and uplifting energy. With more money I would donate to orphanages, pay the charities that educate farmers in drought stricken lands how to utilize water better. I would donate to Feeding America and so many similar projects around the world. I would help clean up the oceans, protect endangered wildlife and help the refugee crises in the world. THINK of all the good you could do if you had more wealth and abundance in your life. Just like this man in the Six of Pentacles you could help transform lives. Its GOOD to have more money if you are a woman because research shows we tend to help and uplift our communities.
I challenge you right now to get your journal and the Six of Pentacles. Write down all the AMAZING things you could do in the world with extra money. All the great changes you could make happen.

GOLDEN DAWN / QABALA
The Hermetic title for this card is ‘Lord of Material Success’.
On the Tree of Life, the Number Six cards sit on the balanced Sphiroth Tiferet which represents harmony. After the energy from the Divine enters Kether at the top of the Tree of Life, it next flows to Chokhmah. Chokhmah is the place of wisdom. The energy then flows onto Binah which is the energy of understanding. Then the energy leaves this upper triangle of energy (called the Supernal) and flows down to Chesed, the energy of Mercy. Then the energy flows to Gevurah which is a difficult Sphiroth representing severity and possibly suffering. Then the energy flows to Tiferet which is at the center of the Tree of Life. It represents balance and harmony.
We even see in the six of pentacles that there is a weighing scales representing the possibility for balance – just like Tiferet. The three characters also represent the three pillars of the Tree of Life.

SIX OF PENTACLES REVERSED
When this card is reversed the energy is blocked. You are not abundant and you are not able to receive the abundance that is around you and possibly even being offered to you.
Two important questions to consider with a reversed Six of Pentacles:
Why have I money blocks?
When am I stuck in a cycle of debt and stress?
