Traditionally this card means victory after strife. A time of celebration. A time of hope. It can also indicate good news is coming.

SYMBOLS
Man on Horse holding Staff
Here we have a man riding through a parade. People are celebrating and holding staffs aloft in celebration. We can imagine he has come back from a conflict and won or that he achieved something great and inspiring.
Horse
The horse is a high breed stallion dressed for celebration. He is raising one leg, knee bent in a celebratory walk. He is dressed in green, the traditional color for peace, harmony and healing.
Laurel Wreath
This is a traditional symbol for victory and achievement. It was given to Greek athletes who run competitions in the Olympics. Kings, Gods and leaders wore wreaths upon their head to celebrate life and power.
Five Wands held up in Celebration
The five wands are held up in celebration of the man on the horse. The crowd celebrate with him. They admire what he has achieved.
The Crowd
The crowd celebrate with the man and remind him that he is not alone. He is seen and he is acknowledged for the great he does in the world. It is a reminder that support from others can make us strive harder for our goals, knowing we are held and loved.
DO YOU CELEBRATE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS?
This is a really important question. What do you consider is an achievement? Do you have the self love and confidence to notice when you have achieved something?
Here are some things that women do that I think is an amazing achievement!
Passing an exam
Loving your body
Allowing yourself to rest and recuperate in this crazy busy world we live in
Surviving a traumatic childhood
Travelling alone
Giving birth (all forms of birth, not just vaginal)
Saying No!
Staying in a relationship and making it work
Leaving a relationship when its time for it to end
When I have conversations with women I often hear the following statements…
Oh it was nothing! Anyone could have done it!
What! That! No big deal!
I could have done better!
It was good but I wont be able to do it again!
I am not special!
As a gender we often have a severe lack of self confidence and trust in ourselves. The Six of Wands is a great card to celebrate ourselves.
We can learn from any moment in time and that I believe is the greatest achievement.
I challenge you right now to get your journal and the Six of Wands if you suffer from a lack of confidence.
Write down six big events in your life. Any event that comes to mind.
What did you achieve in that event, no matter how painful or how great?
Can you see the spark of greatness in that achievement that sits inside of you?

GOLDEN DAWN / QABALA
The Hermetic title for this card is ‘The Lord of Victory’.
On the Tree of Life, the Number Six cards sit on the balanced Sphiroth Tiferet which represents harmony. After the energy from the Divine enters Kether at the top of the Tree of Life, it next flows to Chokhmah. Chokhmah is the place of wisdom. The energy then flows onto Binah which is the energy of understanding. Then the energy leaves this upper triangle of energy (called the Supernal) and flows down to Chesed, the energy of Mercy. Then the energy flows to Gevurah which is a difficult Sphiroth representing severity and possibly suffering. Then the energy flows to Tiferet which is at the center of the Tree of Life. It represents balance and harmony, love and compassion.

SIX OF WANDS REVERSED
When this card is reversed the energy is blocked. You are not able to reach your goals. Something is blocking your ability to succeed. You have the resources and creativity to get there but somehow you just cannot make it. You know what you need to do…and yet…things stay the same! Something holds you back.
I see this card come up reversed for women when they simply cannot lose weight. They know what they need to do. They know what foods to eat and what to avoid. They know how much exercise they need to do each week. They have the ability and the resources and yet they cannot lose weight. They ruled out medical reasons and when they explore deeper they find that they binge eat over a weekend or lose a few kg’s and then overeat. Or they say they will start a healthy diet next Monday and then put things off by a week and another week…
Two important questions to consider with a reversed Six of Wands:
What sabotage is playing out in your life?
What gift / reward do you get for NOT reaching your goal?
