TEN OF PENTACLES POWERWORDS
Wealth / Success in the family
This card means that there is wealth and success either to you directly or to your family.
Traditionally the card means wealth and riches, family inheritance and prestige.
An elderly man sits in ornate robes under an archway of his ancestral home that holds his family crest. We assume the man and woman are his children, or child and spouse. The child we can assume is his grandchild. The two dogs his loyal companions. In the distance we see his large residence. Around him grow grapes from his vineyard. This is a very wealthy man who is enjoying the fruits of his labors. His wealth will benefit future generations also.
Man / Woman
This couple represent the youth and energy of the next generation who will continue the wealth and strength of the family.
This man has built his own empire (possibly with help also from his ancestral inheritance). He now looks now at the fruits of his labors.
The child represents the third generation and the fact that enough success can allow money to trickle down through the generations.
The ten standing pentacles all around the card show that where ever you look, there is wealth. This is such an abundant card. Wealth in the clothing, the buildings, the well groomed dogs. Everything indicates wealth. So many pentacles. So much wealth.
The two dogs represent loyalty. When we remain steadfast and loyal in our commitments, it can bear fruit.
Represents the doorway into the future and its possibilities. It also contains the family crest which shows the influence of the ancestors. Past – present – future.
Castle in the distance
The castle shows us the huge wealth this card indicates. There is no shortage of money in this family. Hints We see the Tower in the left hand corner reminding us that change can happen at any stage and to enjoy it now. The dogs are well groomed and well fed compared to the mangy dog in the Fool Card. A journey is complete. The grapes remind us of other cards indicating wealth.

CONFUSION BETWEEN THE CARDS
Some people tell me they do not understand the difference between the Nine and Ten of Pentacles.
Both indicate success, wealth and empowerment. The Nine of Pentacles is an individual success. The Ten of Pentacles is a family success.
Some students tell me they get confused between the Ten of Cups and the Ten of Pentacles.
The Ten of Cups is about the family love and the results of that love. It is about the healthy emotions in the family. The Ten of Pentacles is about the wealth of a family and the security it brings. The Obama family would have both Tens in their Tarot Constellation. They have a strong love and trust that unites them and they also have a strong financial security.
GOLDEN DAWN / QABALA
The Hermetic title for this card is ‘Lord of Wealth’.
On the Tree of Life, the Number Ten cards sit on the Sphiroth Malkuth which represents Kingdom or Planet Earth.
After the energy from the Divine enters Kether at the top of the Tree of Life, it next flows to Chokhmah. Chokhmah is the place of wisdom. The energy then flows onto Binah which is the energy of understanding. Then the energy leaves this upper triangle of energy (called the Supernal) and flows down to Chesed, the energy of Mercy. Then the energy flows to Gevurah which is a difficult Sphiroth representing severity and possibly suffering. Then the energy flows to Tiferet which is at the center of the Tree of Life. It represents balance and harmony. Next we move to Netzach which is victory and then onto Hod which is splendor. Then we move onto Yesod which is Foundation and directly under Tiferet in the middle pillar. It is balanced. It is the place where all the above energies now have the ability to become manifest and real. What we think, we become. More importantly, what we feel we become. Finally the energy moves down into Malkuth which is Yesod come into the world and create the planet we live on and everything in existence. The essence of the Creator goes through various stages until it comes to the final stage of being. Therefore we can conclude that all of life and the world around us contains a spark of the Creator. All the 10 cards in the Tarot represent completion of the suits energy.

TEN OF PENTACLES REVERSED
When this card is reversed the card shows a block in the family. There is no strength or glue in the union and it may be due to financial worry and stress. There may even be a threat of separation.
Another meaning could be that you look for security above other things – staying in a marriage when you are not happy. Staying in a well paid job when your soul is slowly shriveling up!
Two important questions to consider with a reversed Ten of Pentacles:
Are there financial worries in your family right now ?
Are you choosing security over happiness, soul urge and passion?
