THREE OF WANDS POWERWORDS
The Three of Wands tells you that things are progressing well. You are feeling very confident and secure about the direction you are taking in life.
The traditional meaning of this card is overseas travel, adventure, experiencing life and expansion. It can also indicate successful entrepreneur advancements. It is simply a great card!
A man stands with his back to us. He looks out to the sea. In the horizon are three ships and far in the distance, land. He holds one staff and the others stand easily and strongly on their own.
The man is no longer standing inside his castle. He is now standing on a cliff and able to see ‘from above, the big picture’. He is now already on his adventure. He takes a rest as he watches the horizon but there is no turning back. Life is in motion and he feels confident. His plans are progressing and he has left the planning stage behind.
The sea is calm and the ships sail easily. The energy is flowing well. There are many possibilities coming your way.
The three ships represent the energy of three – creativity. With creativity comes expansion and something new. Waite who was the brain behind the Rider Waite Smith deck said that these three ships belong to the man and they are carrying his merchandise to other parts of the world.
Land in the Distance
The land represents the possibilities that are awaiting him. The Promised Land. The Land of Opportunity.
The man stands in the center between two staffs. Like the Tree of Life diagram with the three pillars, this cards indicates something strong and solid has been created. The energy is one of ability and power.
MORE THOUGHTS ON THIS CARD
I find this card comes up again and again when women really allow themselves to follow their intuitive urges. Go for that job. Leave that man. Get on that plane. Start an online business. Say yes. Say no. When a woman strongly ‘knows’ what is the right path and she walks on it she is embodying the energy of the Three of Wands. She is doing it and she is full of confidence because she listened to herself and she knows she is on the right path. Meeting a woman with the Three of Wands energy inside her is a breath of fresh air and super inspiring.

GOLDEN DAWN / QABALA
The Hermetic title for this card is ‘Lord of Established Strength’
On the Tree of Life, the Number Three cards sit on the Sphiroth Binah which represents understanding. After the energy from the Divine enters Kether at the top of the Tree of Life, it next flows to Chokhmah. Chokhmah is the place of wisdom. The energy then flows onto Binah which is the feminine energy of understanding. Sometimes we need to stop, stand back and understand the full picture before proceeding. What do we need? What step to take next? Three energy is a time to celebrate what is and consider what is next.

THREE OF WANDS REVERSED
When we get the Three of Wands reversed we are looking at blocked energy. There is no flow. There is no progression. There is no expansion. That which we want to grow and expand is energetically not able to. A new job is not so exciting after all. Travel plans change or feel stuck. Relationships don’t go well. Career decisions seemed to lead to stalled energy.
Two important questions to consider with a reversed Three of Wands:
Do I have any idea why the energy is stuck right now?
What do I need to do to let this energy flow once again?
